Away on Holidays

Sorry for the lack of posts recently; I've been up north in Townsville for the last two months. I have had access to the Internet (I've even been working), but I just haven't been able to get up the motivation to post. Hopefully I'll get up a ten things update and at least one real post (I've got a few book and movie reviews I want to post, so probably one or two of them) this week. In the meantime here's a picture of Florence Bay on Magnetic Island I took over the weekend.

Speedup of Trac Static Content

At work I recently spent some time working on getting our hosted Trac to run faster. I found one simple little trick that gave up to a 20% speed improvement, so I thought I'd share it here.

A review God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science. I strongly recommend reading this post; It's both entertaining and educational. Note the title of this post is not a reference to Author himself, but rather something he talks about in his post (about a third of the way down).

Henry Review Income Tax Recommendation

Apparently the Coalition is thinking about looking into implementing one of the recommendations of the Henry Review [of the Australian taxation system] for a [pseudo-]flat tax rate. I think this is a great idea, and I hope they do implement it.
