I watched this film on Saturday night. The Plot (at least of the first half I actually watched) can be summarised as "Matt Damon goes nuts." Oh, sure there was more to it than that, but that was the part that stood out. To explain how bad it was by the hour thirty point I did not care what happened enough to continue to sit and watch it. The family members that did watch the rest of it tell me that I made the right decision.

AKA: Revenge of the Sith. This is hilarious; I find myself wondering if I could pick up a copy from somewhere.

I watched this movie last night, and unfortunately I must say that I didn't really enjoy it. It billed itself as a "black comedy", and while it certainly succeeded on the first part, calling it a comedy is really a bit of a stretch, it simply wasn't all that funny. Don't get me wrong, I actually quite enjoy a good black comedy (for instance Plots with a View), this movie just didn't do it for me. For sure there was some funny moments, the "reading" of the will was hilarious for instance, but these couple of scenes where ultimately let down by the rest of the film. In summary: if your looking for a black comedy watch Plots with a View instead.

This movie tries to get away with it's lousy plot by being an "action" movie, and while the action scenes where technically brilliant, they where only around a third of the film. That means the majority of the time was spent on plot, and the plot... well lets just say it could be better. This movie has several plot holes and instances of plot induced stupidity. Note that from here on this review may contain spoilers.

Over the weekend I saw a couple of good movies, first up on Saturday was American Gangster, an exceptional movie based on a true story of an American detective trying to catch a drug dealer. It's quite an interesting story, so I'd recommend you read up on what happened even if you don't see the film, try the Wikipedia articles on Frank Lucas and Richie Roberts and also check out the various linked sources in those articles.Continue reading...

I watched the film "To End All Wars" on Saturday night. This was an interesting film about the treatment of Allied POW by the Japanese. One thing I found amusing about the film though was when "Yanker" was talking to one of the other prisoners he said that he was not a "Kamikaze". That word was introduced to the English language in the period from 1944 to 1945, while this movie was set a couple of years before that. I know I'm nit-picking, but still I think it's funny.Continue reading...

I was watching Planet of the Apes last night (OK, it was actually already morning, but I hadn't been to sleep yet :-) ), and I noticed that the main ape hero made comments on human (i.e. real humans on Earth) great and harsh mistreatment of apes. Leo, our (human) hero, made no attempt to counter these claims, but instead seemed to agree that humans putting non-sapient [un-intelligent] animals in zoos*, was worse, not just as bad, but worse, than intelligent apes enslaving and murdering (sapient) humans.Continue reading...
