Apparently Kevin Rudd won't rule out a rise in fuel prices under his new carbon trading scheme. What the ...? Does no one else realise that "carbon trading" is basically just forcing people who use fuel to pay another fee? Of course carbon trading will cause fuel prices to go up!

A fat, black¹ women objects to being described as such. She fully admits that both of these adjectives are accurate, so what's the problem? Sure he could have written that she was "of considerable girth and belonging to a darker skinned ethnic group" but that takes a while to type/write and the document was only intended for internal use and not for media release or anything, and cops have to fill out a lot of paper work, so Constable Pendlebury decided² to save some time and just use simple, short words that mean exactly the same thing.Continue reading...

Just thought a comparison of the punishments for a couple of crimes may give some insight into the governments priorities. Brutally burning your quadriplegic husband to death: five years and six months. Claiming false deductions on your tax: four years and three months. You can draw your own conclusions.

Over the weekend I saw a couple of good movies, first up on Saturday was American Gangster, an exceptional movie based on a true story of an American detective trying to catch a drug dealer. It's quite an interesting story, so I'd recommend you read up on what happened even if you don't see the film, try the Wikipedia articles on Frank Lucas and Richie Roberts and also check out the various linked sources in those articles.Continue reading...
