Armarium Magnus

I've mentioned Tim O'Neill's blog here before, but he hadn't posted since quite some time. (he's even worse than me at the whole regular posts things; though his posts are longer and far more interesting) Despite this I've still checked back there every now and again incase he starts posting again, and now he has. As with all of his reviews it's full of interesting historic information; I strongly recommend reading it.

The Burger That Will Not Rot

We've all heard the story about the MacDonald's burger that will not rot. Apparently because of the evil preservatives in them. Well, someone decided to test this theory by using eight different types of burgers including home made ones and different types of MacDonald's burgers to see which burgers would and would not rot, and then explains the most likely reason why the MacDonald's burgers do not rot. (I'll give you a hint, it's not the evil preservatives*) Go read the whole thing, it's well worth the time.

The Stupidest Thing on the Internet Ever

A review God's Philosophers: How the Medieval World Laid the Foundations of Modern Science. I strongly recommend reading this post; It's both entertaining and educational. Note the title of this post is not a reference to Author himself, but rather something he talks about in his post (about a third of the way down).

Henry Review Income Tax Recommendation

Apparently the Coalition is thinking about looking into implementing one of the recommendations of the Henry Review [of the Australian taxation system] for a [pseudo-]flat tax rate. I think this is a great idea, and I hope they do implement it.

Good News

Apparently 168,000 Australians are not claiming the welfare they are "entitled" to. Good job people; we should all give ourselves a pat on the back, but don't forget there's still more to be done.
