The Meaning of Waking Dreams

I saw a book in a bookshop I was walking past Today called "The Meaning of Waking Dreams". Now I know this may surprise some of my readers but I actually agree with the author/s of this book. It's a little known fact that waking dreams are the Universe sending you a message. Often times the consequences of ignoring or (perhaps even worse) misinterpreting these messages can be disastrous. Where I must complain though is the idea that an amateur with a book, not matter how well written, interpreting their own waking dreams is a good idea. It takes considerable training and skill to successfully interpret a waking dream. For instance how many of us could recognize the subtle differences between the universe telling us to "lay off the drugs, you moron" and the similar, but distinct message that "you really shouldn't have licked that frog; seriously what where you thinking?"

In the USA

I'm in the US for a couple of months on work. I've been here for a week now and it's quite interesting. I'm in the San Francisco area. I'll post more real posts later, but this is just my excuse for not having posted anything for a while.

Japanese mobster spared hanging

A murdering Japanese mobster is spared the gallows. Yay, this is good news for people everywhere; it's about time Japan caught up with the rest of the world, and it's not like people who've been spared hanging ever re-offend. Killer who escaped gallows convicted again. Oh; well that sucks then.

60th Anniversary of Communist China

The Chinese are having a parade. "Authorities are taking no chances with security, with the Chinese capital effectively shut down", and everyone told to stay inside an watch it on TV. Good thing too, we wouldn't want to have a repeat of the Tiananmen Square Embarrassment.

rm *

I just reminded myself how dangerous 'rm *' is. I deleted the copies of all the posts on my blog from my local system. Fortunately I had backups of all but the most recent 8 posts, and I could recover them easily enough, but this has reminded me to make my "daily" backups more regular than once a fortnight, and convinced me to add 'alias rm="rm -i"' back to my .bash_aliases.

Polanski arrested for child rape

... and his lawyer claims he should be released because he "... obviously poses no danger to society and [his] artistic and personal reputation are clearly established". Yeah he's a wonderful man, except for that one time (that we know of) where he raped a 13 year old girl:
