Population growth our biggest challenge:
The head of the Treasury, Ken Henry, says Australia's population growth is the biggest challenge to Commonwealth and state governments since Federation.
Really, bigger than World Wars One and Two you say? Perhaps someone should remind Mr. Henry about some of the interesting things that have happened over the last century and a bit.
Also I'm unsure why population growth is necessarily a problem. I can see that growing the number of people on welfare is a significant problem, but if we decrease how easy it is to get welfare a growing population would be a good thing, and people will organise the houses they need. It's not like we have a shortage of space after all.
