NaNoWriMo Update 1

Well, I'm not doing too bad overall with NaNoWriMo for the first full week, I've got up over 10,000 words as of Wednesday, which is where I was aiming for. Unfortunately I got only about 150 words done yesterday, which puts me about 2,000 words short of my goal.

I think a big part of the problem was that I was writing a chapter from a different perspective to what I've used so far. I've been alternating between the perspectives of the two main characters each chapter, but I had to write a flashback chapter from a different perspective, and it took me a while during my lunch break to even decide how to write the first paragraph, and I'm not even sure if I'll keep it. As I had family over in the evening I couldn't get anything done after work, so that one measly paragraph is all I've got.

I've got a few other flashbacks planned, but all the others I could write from the perspective of the main characters. I'm thinking I might just skip this flashback for now, and continue on with the main story; it could be replaced with a short amount of dialog in another main chapter, or I might have a better idea of how to finish it once I've done some more.

I've got a big fight scene coming up, which I can work on this afternoon, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up at least some of the word count there since I found my last fight scene relatively easy to write, at least once I had the basics planned out.
